About Ian Wallach:
With a degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, his art focuses on custom dinnerware for restaurants and the home. With dinnerware, there is a very finite set of parameters for it to function safely and effectively, yet within that is a world of infinite possibility.
Ian attributes his set of skills and insight into what chefs, cooks, and diners are looking for to his hands-on experience working in a kitchen. During his time at the Art Institute of Chicago, Ian worked as line cook, meeting new chefs and finding true passion in the food and restaurant industry. When he graduated, he had to decide in what capacity he wanted to be involved in the industry, and the choice was easy. He got a private studio and linked up with Chicago Kiln where he still works today fixing kilns, doing workshops, and still making his own ceramic work.
