BiteSizeBots & Co., handcrafted by Chicago-based artist Selin Işın Maldonado, is a collection of robots and rayguns created from recycled, re-purposed and non-working, vintage Leica Cameras and pocket watches.
We are so excited to welcome BiteSizeBots & Co. to the Chicago Artisan Market on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 10am-4pm at Morgan MFG (401 N. Morgan St.), where they will join 100+ top artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.
Each robot and raygun is different from the others and has all original designs, unique features, construction and personality. These non-functional, retro art pieces spark both nostalgia and curiosity with the precision and extreme detail that is used to create each one.
Editor’s Note: If a robot is going to take my job one day, let’s just hope it’s as adorable and sustainable as the ones Maldonado creates. As a Marvin the Martian fan (from 1970’s Bugs Bunny cartoons), I can say only this: “If you don’t visit BiteSizeBots & Co. at the Chicago Artisan Market, I’m going to disintegrate you with my ray gun.”
