Grayling Ceramics – Rustic, Modern Ceramics for Everyday Use

Designed with artisan craft in mind

Grayling Ceramics at Chicago Artisan Market

Grayling Ceramics is a partnership of Maura and Shay Church. The Michigan-based couple makes wheel-thrown and slip-cast pottery for beer, coffee, and the home – all from their studio in downtown Kalamazoo, MI.

All Grayling products are extremely durable and meant to be used in everyday life. Their products are either thrown on a potters wheel or slip cast in molds they create in house.  They have two additional full-time potters on staff to keep up with growing demand.

The clays and glazes Grayling Ceramics formulates can hold food and are both dishwasher-safe and microwave-safe.

We are excited to welcome Grayling Ceramics to the Chicago Artisan Market on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 10am-4pm at Morgan MFG (401 N. Morgan St.), where she will join 100+ top artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.

Grayling CeramicsThe Grayling Ceramics Collections include:
Growlers and Howlers – The 64 oz. growler or the 32 oz. howler are the perfect containers to take to breweries or hold any liquid hot or cold. The swing-top lid provides an air-tight seal that will keep beer fresh for weeks.
Home Goods – plates, bowls, cups, pitchers vases
Steins and Mugs – 16 oz. steins and 13 oz. mugs

Starting and growth:
In 2014, Maura’s 15 years of experience in the restaurant business and Shay’s 15 years of ceramics experience combined to form Grayling Ceramics. In addition to Maura and Shay, they have two full-time potters on staff. The four of them are dedicated to creating an evolving line of durable, well-designed ware that reflects the color and form of the Great Lakes region.
