Taco in a Bag

Taco in a Bag is a Chicago-based food offering from the guys at Glutton Force Five that is saving the world from boring food – while loosening the constrictions of culinary traditions, one gourmet taco at a time.

What is Glutton Force Five?
At the center of it all are two competitive eaters, Tim “Gravy” Grown and Pat “Deep Dish” Bertolletti, who saved up their collective winnings to create something that was not only gratuitous and ridiculous, but also mouth-watering good at the same time.

We are excited to welcome Taco in a Bag back to the Chicago Artisan Market on Sunday, March 10, 2019 from 10am-4pm at Morgan MFG (401 N. Morgan St.), where she will join 100+ top artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.

Taco in a BagOur Favorites:
? The Big Jim Reeves (the original Taco in a Bag) – chorizo country gravy, tomatillo sour cream, pepper jack, cilantro, green onion
? The Norberto (gluten free) – spicy braised chicken thigh, sauteed pepper and onion, pepper jack, avocado jalapeno sauce, dried cranberries, sriracha drizzle
? Cheeseburger Nachos – beer braised ground beef, three cheese sauce, potato straws, dill pickles, romaine, not McDonalds special sauce
? The Angry Bird (gluten free) – verde braised chicken thigh, queso fresco, roasted garlic infused sour cream, cilantro

In addition to the full meals in a bag, Taco in a Bag offers vegetarian options, gluten free options, build your own taco in a bag and their ever popular desserts including the Bacon Brownie, Donut Hole Parfaits (in four flavors) and the Carrot Cake Bread Pudding.

The guys at Taco in a Bag eat, cook and save the world from boring food. There is not an eating contest that has scared them away (Rocky Mountain Oysters anyone?) or a food challenge they can?t conquer. They?ve traveled the world eating competitively, been to every truck stop diner, and have sampled every fast food phenomenon. They took all of their experience and put it right back into our own gustatory creations at Taco in a Bag.

Why Taco in a Bag?
It was in Buffalo, NY on a trip to the National Buffalo Wing Eating contest in 2009 (over 6.4 lbs. of wings consumed by Glutton Force Five in 8 minutes) where they experienced one of the worst foods they had ever eaten. They came across a sign for ?Walking Tacos!? and figured what couldn?t be good about a walking taco? They soon learned the answer was – pretty much everything! Too many tomatoes drowning the flavor and cheap chili made this simple dish very anticlimactic. Since that day, Glutton Force Five has vowed to take back the dignity of the walking taco.
