Located 35 miles southwest of Chicago in the IL and Michigan National Heritage Corridor of Lockport, IL, Tallgrass is one of those small, elegant, intimate restaurants that you cherish and come back to time and again.
Housed within a turn-of-the-century restored Victorian building, Tallgrass sticks to its roots. The restaurant’s style is rich with history, featuring antique knick-knacks such as authentic gas chandeliers, cut crystal and polished silver that create a refined atmosphere.
Chef Robert Burcenski prepares elegantly garnished contemporary cuisine reflecting a world of influences with a focus on organic, sustainable and locally-produced products. Burcenski’s menu offers a unique prix-fixe menu of 3-5 courses, where diners choose from over thirty options, including a special vegetarian menu.
These are some of Tallgrass’s specialty entrees:
Save room for dessert for desserts as original as the entrees, such as the restaurant’s signature Tallgrass Tower: a flourless Belgian chocolate torte with vanilla mousse, raspberries, white and dark chocolate walls and raspberry sauce.
A personalized degustation menu is available at the Chef’s discretion for those seeking a special evening of gourmet dining with others.
Tallgrass also boasts an intelligent, reasonably priced wine list of over 200 domestic and imported labels that helped win the restaurant the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
Established in 1981, remains a treasure to be found over and over again.
