Chicago Firehouse Restaurant

Temporarily Closed while rebuilding after a fire.

Erected in 1905 to serve bourgeois Prairie Avenue residents such as the Marshall Fields, the McCormick’s, the Palmers and the Glessners, The Chicago Firehouse Restaurant is not only an upscale dining venue, but also a historical landmark.

When converting the former firehouse into an exquisite restaurant, contractors worked to preserve original structural and decorative aspects such as the tin ceiling and two fire poles located in the bar, as well as the Chief’s wall.

The renovated firehouse now incorporates a dignified interior of rich mahogany wood tones and dark metal lanterns contrasting against starch white linens and the original firehouse’s unique yellow brick and limestone walls.

The Chicago Firehouse sticks to a traditional American menu such as:

    • Mango and chili barbequed pork chop with whipped maple sweet potatoes, braised cabbage with apples and dried cherry sauce.
    • Firehouse chicken served with au gratin potatoes, French green beans, and mustard au jus.
    • Surf and turf 6 oz. Petit filet mignon and 6 oz. broiled Maine lobster tail.

A number of private rooms are available for catering, including the spacious East and West Rooms with an outdoor balcony facing the city’s Museum Campus for banquets and receptions or the more intimate Mayor’s and Wine Cellar Rooms which can accommodate up to 20 people.
