Based in Chicago, Sugoi Sweets is an artisan chocolate and confection company featuring hand-made bonbons, caramels and macarons from chef and co-founder, Elle Lei.
We are excited to welcome Chef Elle of Sugoi Sweets to the Chicago Artisan Market at Morgan MFG (401 N. Morgan St., Chicago) on Sunday, September 22, 2019 (10am-4pm) along with Chicago’s finest artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.
While working in fine dining restaurants in both Louisville and Chicago, Chef Elle found a passion for creating exceptional food experiences. As an avid food traveler, she has never turned down the opportunity to eat her way through great food cities. Sugoi Sweets was born from her experiences and her love to share food.
All items are handcrafted, made from scratch with the finest fresh ingredients and free from preservatives. Sugoi Sweets also creates delights specific to special occasions or holiday seasons that include limited runs of seasonal flavors and colors.
Some Sugoi Sweets specialties include:
• Caramels: These are not the mass-produced, sticky hard caramels you may remember prying out of your teeth as a child. Sugoi Sweets caramels are soft and chewy, made with the finest dairy and real fruit puree. Flavors include: espresso, cherry almond, hazelnut, miso, sea salt, guava passion fruit, blackberry, strawberry, matcha, and yuzu.
• Bonbons: No two bonbons are alike, and each one is made of the finest Belgium chocolate with hand painted shells by Sugoi Sweets. Flavors include: Mexican hot chocolate, caramel sea salt, strawberry cheesecake, midnight blueberry, matcha, passion fruit, peanut butter & jelly, raspberry, and espresso.
• Macarons: The macarons have a smooth, crispy shell that is airy and light, with an overall consistency that provides just the right amount of chewiness. Whether a cream, jam, or ganache, the natural filling completes the luscious experience. Flavors include: vanilla, chocolate, passion fruit, raspberry, caramel, cotton candy, lemon, and more.
They also specialize in making dacquoise and machta desserts. Dacquoise are cookie cakes that are light and full of rich flavor, originating from France and commonly found in the form of a tiny cake. Matcha is a flexible flavor used as a star ingredient in many items from Sugoi Sweets. They sell the same matcha powder found in their products so you can experiment at home. They source from a Japanese tea region known for producing the finest quality matcha.
