Chicago area jewelry designer Sarita Kamat designs wearable art inspired by the beauty of nature. With the use of fine materials such as Swarovski crystals, gemstones, pearls, wires, glass and paints, Sarita Kamat Designs creates intrinsically designed, hand-painted artisan jewelry and men’s accessories.
With her life-long fascination with the outdoors and wildlife, Sarita draws on nature from her childhood in India for inspiration. She expresses the beauty seen in the world through art, specifically through painting glass. As a lifelong explorer of her craft, Sarita finds new ways to transform moments in time and the beauty of the world through jewelry.
Explore nature’s simplicity and elegance with Sarita Kamat at the Chicago Artisan Market at Morgan Manufacturing (401 N. Morgan St., Chicago) on Sunday, December 2, 2018 (10am-4pm) along with 100+ of Chicago’s finest in food, fashion, home goods + art.
How she makes her jewelry
Sarita’s process starts with painting the clear glass cabochons, which are dried for 48 hours before they are fired, then coated with Diamond Glaze to protect the painting and give it a smooth finish. After 24 hours, the finished pieces are glued to pendant and earring bails and are ready to wear as bracelets, necklaces, earrings, tie pins, cufflinks and accessories.
By transforming painted glass into pieces of wearable art, Sarita creates the special, one-of-a-kind pieces you want to wear again and again. She loves to create jewelry that is simple, elegant and timeless, that speaks of you and to you and that will make you want to wear it and pass it on to your next generation.
Whether for statement fashion or modern sleek, Sarita’s wearable art gets the job done. For classy men and elegant women alike, Sarita Kamat Designs offers unique accessories that are both simple and stylish.
