North Shore Center for the Performing Arts

One might be prejudiced enough to think that great theatre, music and dance is only found within the stately confines of the city of Chicago, but, luckily for all those suburban dwellers and the rest of us, world class performances can be found at the North Shore Center for the Performing Arts in Skokie (NSCPA).

Featuring three in house performance groups, the NSCPA is sure to have something for everyone.
Centre East has historically brought everyone from the Mamas and the Papas to Rosie O?Donnell to grace the Theatre.

Northlight Theatre, the resident theatre company, is not only renowned and award winning, but it encompasses an educational program for children and seniors as well as a traveling group.

Their productions include the likes of:

  • Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde: Jeffrey Hatcher?s adaptation of the novella by Robert Louis Stevenson of the man with the split personality.
  • Mauritius:Theresa Rebeck?s dramedy about the world of stamp collecting.
  • The Lieutenant of Inishmore: Martin McDonagh?s black comedy that explores the bloody consequences of misunderstandings after the murder of Wee Thomas the cat.The Skokie Valley Symphony Orchestra rounds up the resident performance groups. Well known for great renditions of classics, it is a must see.
