North Pond Restaurant – Lincoln Park

North Pond Restaurant in Lincoln Park

Nestled between cascading trees and a small pond in Lincoln Park, North Pond Restaurant is a culinary oasis situated inside a converted ice skaters’ warming house. It overlooks the skyline while offering a bucolic setting that makes you forget all about life in the big city.

The decor is designed in the arts and crafts style, placing the emphasis on the work of the craftsman and the material, without being overly ornamental. The restaurant is done in beautiful woods, stones and copper, making customers feel right at home at North Pond.

The menu is considered seasonal American, but if you ask Chef Bruce Sherman, he’ll tell you is actually contemporary French. Sherman always makes sure there is a beet salad and an egg dish on the appetizer menu. The current egg appetizer is a soft boiled hen egg with roasted bell pepper sofrito, Merguez sausage, green olive-almond relish, “tater tots” and chorizo.

In 2017, North Pond was one of just 25 restaurants to earn a coveted Michelin star for 2018. This was the 5th consecutive year (2014-2018) that it has received that prestigious designation. In 2012, the restaurant was a James Beard Award winner and a 2016 finalist.

The dinner menu offers several meat, fish and poultry selections, as well as vegetarian salads. Customers who order the 5 or 6 course tasting menu will be brought a chef-selected series of dishes that are at their peak during that time. Brunch is served each Sunday beginning at 10:30am.

Sherman believes strongly in sustainability and helping local farmers. Each bottle of wine purchased at North Pond sends a portion of proceeds to a charity that contributes to preservation of food, food styles and sustainable ways.

Valet parking is available for a fee ($13 per vehicle as of October 2017). Drop-off is at the corner of Lakeview and Deming Streets, on the west side of Lincoln Park. There is limited street parking on Stockton and Cannon Dr.; however, be sure to pay attention to time & snow restrictions if you choose to self-park.
