Joffrey Ballet Chicago
Chicago’s Joffrey Ballet began in 1956 when Robert Joffrey and Gerald Arpino wanted to share with the community their unique American vision of dance that stemmed from their original and truest roots.
Their vision was the soul motivator of the Joffrey Ballet, which is now considered one of the most famous ballet companies in the world and has been a graceful, cultural must-see for Chicago’s residents and visitors for decades.
The company’s 42 dancers perform during the October-May dance season in the elegant Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University in Chicago. The Joffrey Ballet is led by artistic director, Ashley Wheater, and Executive Director, Greg Cameron.
The Joffrey Ballet’s elegant repertoire consists of both classical and contemporary works as well as the December favorite, The Nutcracker, which is performed in conjunction with the Chicago Philarmonic.
In August 2008 the Joffrey Ballet moved into their first permanent new home at the Joffrey Tower located at 10 E. Randolph St. in downtown Chicago. This new location is also home to the Joffrey Academy of Dance, the official school of the Joffrey Ballet, which opened in January 2009.
The Joffrey is committed to providing arts education and accessible dance training through its Joffrey Academy of Dance and Community Engagement programs.
The Joffrey Ballet?s performance venue is located at 10 E. Randolph St. in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood.
