Grounded Ceramics – Modern Handmade Ceramics for the Home

Ceramic objects handmade in Chicago

Grounded Ceramics

Grounded Ceramics is a Chicago-based ceramics studio that creates functional, modern pieces for your home. Created by artist Meghan Fritz, each piece is thoughtfully handmade using porcelain or stoneware clay and carefully crafted with the user’s intentions in mind. Through unique, utilitarian objects, Grounded Ceramics provides an opportunity for pause while bringing a dose of beauty, peace and permanence into your home.

Meet Meghan Fritz of Grounded Ceramics at the Chicago Artisan Market at Morgan Manufacturing (401 N. Morgan St., Chicago) on Sunday, July 22, 2018 (10am-4pm) along with 100+ of Chicago?s finest artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.

The name Grounded Ceramics is relevant to numerous aspects of Meghan’s clay practice. From the clay being sourced from the ground to the serene balance found at the center of the potters wheel, feeling grounded is central to her practice.

All of her pieces (including the children’s tableware!) are intended to be used and loved. Nearly all her pieces are also dishwasher-and microwave-safe (although hand-wash is recommended) and are made to stand the test of time.

Grounded Ceramics - ChicagoAbout the artist:
Meghan Fritz is the person behind Grounded Ceramics and each piece she creates is hand-built or wheel-thrown using porcelain or stoneware clay, then glazed and fired in an electric kiln. Her studio, where every part of the process takes place, is located in the basement of her Chicago home.
