• Are they real? – All the insects used are 100% real. They look the same way they do in nature, and their appearance is not altered in any way.
• Where are they from? – They are from insect farms located all across the world, many in tropical regions. Insect farms are part of the conservation effort for many insect species, as they can help increase their population in the wild when necessary.
• Are they killed? – Many insects have short lifespans, so it is easier to let them die naturally, and then collect them.
• Are they endangered? – There are strict laws protecting endangered species, which includes insects. Many countries require permits and customs forms to sell insects internationally, and Green Beetle Shop only uses insects from farms that file the proper documentation for legal insect sales.
People have always had a relationship with insects. This relationship is often either one of fear or one of delight. Humans tend to focus their attention on things more their own size and more their speed. But everyone has memories that involve insects – fireflies in the fields, moths around the light, a caterpillar in the hand.
As a boy, Joshua was fascinated with insects for their size and strangeness. As a man, he is captivated by their beauty and form. Whether kept at arms length, taken gently in hand or avoided in fear, in the right light everyone can see the intricate beauty of insects.
