Gallery Provocateur, a not-for-profit gallery, is the Midwest’s only gallery focusing on provocative art.
Opening its doors on March 1st, 2008, Gallery Provocateur was founded by head curator, Veronika Kotlajic. Gallery Provocateur is the newborn gallery for Kotlajic who was co-founder and curator for Echo Gallery, Chicago from 2001 through 2005.
Kotlajic has been a pillar in the art community for more than a decade and has amassed numerous accomplishments including: head of the couture house Narcisse Designs; dozens of magazine features; a well known art model, and an award winning web designer.
Originally located in the building of the historical Congress Theatre, the avant-garde gallery has since moved down the street to a beautifully renovated Art Deco-style 1920s ballroom complete with its original tin ceiling and crown moldings.
The intimate setting and tantalizing art stimulates all the senses, as well as welcomes viewers to a new revolution in art, expression and fantasy.
The Gallery holds four rotating exhibitions per year showcasing the works of both local and international artists. Submissions are welcome.
Gallery Provocateur is located in Chicago’s Humboldt Park neighborhood.
