Dragons, glowing pagodas and iridescent pinwheels are coming to Boerner Botanical Gardens. It’s all part of China Lights, a Chinese Lantern Festival that has been bringing stunning illuminated sculptures to select venues around the world.

Now it floats into Milwaukee for an after-sundown celebration of Asian life and culture, transforming the nine-acre Gardens into a magical paradise of enchanting illuminated displays. Enjoy a backstage tour of the lanterns and participate in the nightly parade. Or, simply enjoy wandering through the thrilling spectacle, which includes live performances of music, juggling and other arts, as well as the chance to purchase food and merchandise at the marketplace. China Lights: Treasures of China will have 95% new lantern displays featuring cultural gems. The handmade displays range from three-feet to three-stories high. The festival will also include an expanded interactive exhibit area, two stages for Asian folk-culture performances, a marketplace, two dining areas and vendors offering a variety of Asian and Western menu options.
