Rachel Kamins, owner of Bartleby’s Ice Cream Cakes, creates extraordinary gourmet ice cream cakes to Chicago, in all flavors and sizes, decorated just the way you want.
We are happy to welcome Bartleby’s Ice Cream Cakes to the Chicago Artisan Market at Morgan MFG (401 N. Morgan St., Chicago) on Sunday, September 22, 2019 (10am-4pm) along with top Chicago & Midwest artisans in food, fashion, home goods + art.
Founded in December 2018, the goal of Bartleby’s was to bring high-quality, handmade ice cream cakes to the deserving people of Chicago. Every part of the cakes (including the ice cream!) is made fresh and from scratch, using only the finest gourmet ingredients. Perfect for any occasion, pick from one of Bartleby’s favorite combinations or build a custom creation with your own preferred ice cream flavors, baked goods in layers, and decorations.
In addition to their desserts, Bartleby’s is committed to ethical practices, such as using local dairy from family-owned Farmstead, using organic ingredients wherever possible, and using unbleached and recycled paper products whenever they can.
About the Founder, Rachel Kamins:
A natural-born ice cream enthusiast, Kamins began her ice cream career working at Ben & Jerry’s as a factory tour guide, scooper, and Professor of Scoopology (AKA Retail Training Specialist). It was there that she learned, and eventually taught others, how to turn ice cream into ice cream cakes.
Through many years of home ice cream making, a stint working in the Zingerman’s Bakehouse, several classes on piping frosting, and many birthday cakes for friends and family, Kamins came to realize that making delicious desserts, and especially ice cream cakes, was where she found her true passion—and from this, Bartleby’s was born.
