Located in Old Town, Adobo Grill’s lively atmosphere and decor is the ideal place to enjoy excellent Mexican food and a margarita before/after The Second City or an afternoon of shopping on Wells St.
The restaurant, which serves regional Mexican cuisine, focuses on quality and authenticity. Everything in the kitchen is made from scratch including the lime juice and the tortillas.
Adobo Grill is best known for its guacamole that is prepared table-side using a lava rock mortar and pestle known as a molcajete. Avocados, chilies, onions, garlic salt and lime juice are mixed while you watch and served fresh in the molcajete bowl.
The restaurant’s interior is lined with Diego Rivera inspired artwork as well as traditional Mexican folk art. The artwork, in conjunction with the orange, red and green accents and the Southwestern plate patterns brings warmth to the exposed brick walls.
Adobo Grill also has a room for small parties and an additional floor with a second bar that is open for the large weekend crowds.
Adobo Grill has an additional Chicago location in Wicker Park at 2005 W. Division St. (at Damen Ave.).
