Sometimes referred to as the "27 Club" or the "Forever 27 Club" (meaning its members died at that young age), the phenomenon's unfortunate membership includes such musical icons as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and, most recently, Amy Winehouse.
For its new show dubbed Case of the 27's, Chicago's own Monocle Eclectic Dance Company takes inspiration from some of the legendary musicians who have been claimed by the so-called "Curse of 27." A one-act contemporary dance work, Case of the 27's carries on MEDC's mission to create dance in alternative ways, with influences from multiple disciplines.
