| First Folio Theatre closes out its 15th season with Shakespeare's most controversial play, The Merchant of Venice. First Folio's beloved annual Shakespeare-under-the-Stars production is presented on the outdoor mainstage on the scenic slopes of the historic Mayslake Hall estate.
Themes of humanity, dignity, revenge, cruelty, religion and greed are all explored in the character of Shylock, a vengeance-seeking moneylender who is one of Shakespeare's most tragic figures. The clever and well-spoken Portia is also one of his most prominent heroines, whose intelligence shines every bit as brightly as her beauty.
