| Running alongside its production of Merchant of Venice, First Folio Theatre presents present a special fully staged reading of Shylock and His Daughter by Maurice Schwartz.
Originally written for the Yiddish theater and translated into English, this play tells the story of The Merchant of Venice from the perspective of the infamous moneylender Shylock, who demands a pound of flesh as collateral for a loan to his rival. Turning the tale on its head, Schwartz provides the motivations and thought processes behind the controversial character's actions. First Folio's production features the same actors from the main stage production of The Merchant of Venice playing the same roles in this reading.
