First Fridays: Over 30 studio galleries are on display from 6-10pm on the first Friday of every month (a free viewing with optional donations).
You'll find sculptures and paintings, abstract work and impressionist work. Resident artists hail from Mexico, Europe, Chicago and around the globe, and are extremely active in the community not only contributing to their own projects, but other galleries and shows throughout the year.
A sampling of the artists and their projects include:
Ewa Bloch (suite 201): Her current work, Halter-Top Society, tells a story while testing the lines between "allowable" and "intolerable."
Jojo's Closet (suite 206): With a theatrical personality, a love for the limelight, and a presence in Chicago nightlife (not to mention quite a view T.V. appearances to his name), Jojo's Closet demands attention. Here, you'll find a collection of dolls that evoke fond memories and an eerie reminder of Chucky.
Hiromi Tanaka (suite 227): Through the exploration of relationships, particularly in nature, Tanaka creates color combinations that dazzle the eye.
Adam Siegel (suite 300): Sigel's current exhibition, Around the Coyote, is sure to entrap any spectator with its vivid colors and organic overtones.
Alejandro Magana (suite 308): Magana's photography specializes in, well, whatever he wants. With that kind of artistic freedom, his collection ranges from skyscrapers to the sea shore.
Karen Gagich (suite 339): Through her collection of tiles, Gagich explores colors and emotion while letting them explore the 4 corners they are restricted to.
The Flatiron Arts Building is located on 1579 N. Milwaukee Ave. near its intersection with Damen & North Aves. in the heart Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood.
