Fashion Trends & Tips - New York Fashion on Chicago Streets

New York Fashion on Chicago Streets
Marc Jacobs, Jimmy Choo, Isaac Mizrahi, Betsey Johnson – the names seem to be synonymous with New York fashion yet, Chicagoans are rocking these collections on our very own streets, now more than ever. With Marc Jacobs opening in Wicker Park, the recent addition of Jimmy Choo in the Gold Coast and Betsey Johnson going strong in Lincoln Park, Chicago has New York names just about covered.

Jimmy Choo in the Gold Coast
The 1940s-inspired boudoir-esque space of the Jimmy Choo boutique on Oak Street provides a haven for shoe-adoring women in Chicagoland. Although originally launching in London, Jimmy Choo shoes exploded on the New York scene. With a little help from major star power and of course, references in Sex and the City, women in America everywhere were falling in love with Choo. Now, women in Chicago have it easy, we get to shop the Choo collections directly from the boutique itself.

Tamara Mellon, president and founder of Jimmy Choo stated that she wanted the Chicago boutique to "feel as though you are walking into a lady's dressing room, a woman's boudoir." Alas, enter the boudoir and check out the Fall Collections!

Fall in love with the Cole shoe with metallic zipper and the Sweden pump stiletto, both seen at the left. These new additions to the fall and winter line-up represent "fashion's punch sense of chic [and are] seriously elegant – lines are refined with skinny heels and dramatic cutaways while leathers have the glossy sheen of patent and the soft gleam of precious metal" according to Jimmy Choo's latest press releases.

As for handbags, check out these gorgeous pieces: the Ayse in navy and the Rana S., that's right ladies, Jimmy Choo isn't only about shoes.

Marc Jacobs
in Wicker Park
Wicker Park certainly gains more bragging rights with its addition of a Marc by Marc Jacobs boutique. Chicago in general, can rejoice in the local digs, no flight to Kennedy needed.

The 4,000 square foot designer haven will be housed on Damen Ave., its address calling out to women in Chicagoland and farther.

Marc by Marc Jacobs epitomizes American fashion culture; designs are based on a love of fashion and a commitment to quality.

Betsey Johnson
in Lincoln Park
The look of Betsey Johnson's collections speak for themselves; full of funk, class and confidence.

Back in the day, Johnson was a part of the Andy Warhol underground clan - does it get any more New York than that? In her rise toward total designer success, she opened her first boutique on the Upper East Side.

You don't have to go to the Upper East Side anymore however, a Betsey Johnson boutique has been happily residing in Lincoln Park for some time, allowing Chicago women to directly shop her hip pieces.

So what's hot at Betsey Johnson this season? Plenty of slinky little charmeuse numbers that will have the wearer charming anyone who dares cross her path, along with the usual slew of bright Betsey-esque colors. Look out for the indigo and blue tones, this season's must.

Stefani Greenfield and Uzi Ben-Abraham opened the first Scoop in New York City in April 1996, pioneering the “one stop shopping in your ‘ultimate closet’ concept.”

"I envisioned a store that merchandised the best that fashion had to offer all under one roof,” Greenfield said.

P.45 has an eye for all that is fabulous and hard to get your hands on – precisely the reason to shop here.

Handpicking their designer collections and promising many exclusives, shop P.45 for your hip and obscure designer fixations.

We feel we can't really have an editorial on New York fashion without mentioning the incredible, the entertaining, the one-and-only Isaac Mizrahi. Although Mizrahi has yet to open a boutique in the Windy City, his collection is available to shop online, and the hard-to-get your hands on, Isaac's StyleBook is available at Chicago's very own and beloved, Hejfina in Wicker Park or available for download online.
